Arthritis Update

I have managed to get a few answers about my arthritis from a doctor. This relates to me and the arthritis I have in my spine, not necessarily to your situation.

Choose to do activities I love. What I do is probably going to make it hurt. If I don't love yoga, don't do yoga.

It is better to be active, hurt a bit, and take NSAID's, then to sit on the couch and do nothing.

Being active will not do more damage to my spine.

Running in the warm weather is preferred. The cold weather will make it feel worse.

The change in pressure (weather) can cause a flare-up.

Spring, where art thou? I have a half marathon to start training for!!

  1. sorry to hear it but yes, moving does help...and any way you can put some warmth on your body before and during the colder weather? I know I know...but a thought? and yes, May 19th will be here before you know it.
See you in little over a week.

  2. Sometimes I surrender to the couch.
Aleve works well. So does a warm bath. Hope you feel better soon.

  3. I was thinking about you and your back pain and was wondering how you were managing. So it looks like it won't go away :( Go slow and take it easy and make sure you keep warm.

  4. Sorry to hear this Lori, My doctor has me take Celebrex, it works real well. No running for me, my discs have been degenerated by the arthritis, but walking is good. I am impressed that you can run and participate since you enjoy it. Your picture is the way my back feels after a day at Subway!!

  6. I have just found your quilting blog and this blog. I too have your back problem, I've just given up my office job as the sitting down all day was making my back worse which was stopping me walking with my local walking group as I get the pain referred to my hip and leg so now I intend to get more active and hopefully have less pain so that I can walk for longer. Interesting that you cut down on sugar, I'd love to know more..
