Hiking Mill Creek Wilderness

On my bucket list this summer/early fall was to hike to Twin Pillars. A few years ago we started this hike and Cory broke his ankle about 2 miles in and we have never been back. We were both ready to tackle it! We camped very near the trail head but didn't get a very early start.
We crossed a creek about 4 times before we even got to 2 miles. All together we crossed creeks/rivers 8-9 times, which was welcome because it turned out to be very hot!

Coming out of the trees we were in the open where a forest fire had left very little cover. All the information I'd read about the trail it was supposed to be 10.5 miles. Those pillars were where we were going.

By the time we got to this point we were over 6 miles. There was no trail to the rocks and we were beat.
There was a fire on the ridge across from us that we had been keeping an eye on.

We found shade and had some lunch, cooled off, and rested.
Some area of the trail were hot on Elsa's feet so she got a ride a few times!

And then the clouds covered the sun and all 3 of us had some respite!
And we were all exhausted but thrilled we conquered it!
