Lessons From the Gridiron

You may not like football but it is almost impossible to avoid this time of the year. We can learn a few weight loss tips from the gridiron. The next time you are watching football, or just hearing it on TV or radio think about what you learned this week in your meeting.

Tom Landry said, "Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan."

The Football Connection

*Individual success starts in the HUDDLE.
*You have to stick with the GAME PLAN.
*We all FUMBLE.
*Keep your eye on the GOAL.
*BELIEVE IN YOUR ABILITIES and never quit.

The HUDDLE is our meetings. Knowing the GAME PLAN and getting updates is important. You'll also find out at your meetings that we all FUMBLE. Do we lay on the ground and give up? Of course not! We get up and get back to the game plan with our eyes on the GOAL. "The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall."

Coach "Bear" Bryant said, "If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride-and never quit- you'll be a winner."

He knew that internal resources, such as BELIEVING IN YOURSELF, dedication and perseverance were vital to success. Do you believe in yourself? Do you truly believe you have what it takes to lose weight? Using the Anchoring activity sheet can help you draw on that inner resource when you need it.

Last year around the holidays I used a ring that was a little too big as an anchor to remind me that I wanted to eat right and stay successful starting with Halloween all the way to the new year. Whenever I saw that ring it was a reminder for me of what I had accomplished and what I was capable of.

If you missed your meeting this week get the Anchoring activity sheet and draw on your inner resource. YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!!!

"There are so many things about playing football...Anybody can succeed, anybody can play, but you've got to work hard to do it."
