Stress is not what happens to us.
It's our response to what happens-
RESPONSE is something we can choose.
Do the holidays get you stressed? I hope not, but for many the schedules are full, baking needs to be done, parties planned, cards written, presents wrapped.....the list can go on.
Don't let stress send you to the pantry! If you are turning to food when you're stressed, figure out what you are getting out of it. (it's getting you SOMETHING or you wouldn't be eating) Does it calm you down? Give you a sugar high? Make you feel relaxed? We all know food is a temporary fix for stress.
The next thing to do is figure out how you can get that same benefit without food. Can you call a friend? Take a short walk? Play with your pet? Write in a journal?
It takes practice to reframe. Work on it this week and see if you can build positive habits to stress.
