The recommendation is now 9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily! I think it was hard enough to get in 5. Here are some ideas to increase your intake:
1. Make fruit salad.
2. Make a bowl of fruit part of your decor.
3. Toss some fruit into your breakfast.
4. Throw some veggies in the skillet.
5. Crunch on a green salad.
6. Pair fruit with cheese.
7. Munch on dried fruit.
8. Add veggies you like to dishes you love.
9. Spoon up some soup.
10. Drink your vegetables (and fruits).
11. Vegi-fy your pizza.
12. Toss some on the grill.
13. Get them at the drive-through.
14. Dress up your dinner plate with fruit.
15. Drizzle on some cheese sauce.
16. Serve your veggies raw.
17. Keep fruit in heavy rotation.
18. Have prepared fruits and veggies ready to go in the fridge.
19. Try a little salt.

I remember when I first saw that number 9 and wondered if that would just make people give up trying altogether. I just loaded up our dinner with peppers, spinach, sweet potatoes, peas, onions. Probably 3 servings in that chicken dish alone.
ReplyDeleteThat pic alone is encouraging :)
ReplyDeleteI agree having fruits and veggies cleaned and ready to eat instead of in the grocery store state, makes it so much more likely to get eaten.. by everyone!
Sometimes it does feel a bit like the Little Red Hen around here.. Who will help me clean the grapes??? LOL
I'm in the zone and it's no trouble at all!
