Moving Matters

We all should know that moving more helps us burn calories. When trying to lose weight the idea is to burn more than we take in. It has been found that to maintain our weight loss activity needs to fit into our lifestyle. This is a skill we can practice while getting to our goal. Activity improves health, energy level and mental focus. It can also give us a feeling of accomplishment.

So why don't we do more of it? The number one reason I hear at meetings is that we don't have time to exercise. If it's important to you, you will make time. Five minutes here, ten minutes there and you can get in more time then you think during the day. We don't have to commit to classes or the gym, or anything else that we see as boring or a bad fit with our life.
There are so many things we can do- just get up off the couch or easy chair and do it. Take a 5 minute walk, swim, play with your dog. Dust off your exercise ball or yoga DVD. Put the clothes away that are hanging on your treadmill.
It is possible for anyone to fit some type of activity into your day. Look for opportunities.
Commit to exercise 10 minutes every day this week and see how you feel. If you already are active add some minutes to your routine or amp up the intensity.
Most of all, put on a good attitude (or some rock & roll) and have a great time!!

  1. I enjoyed reading your blog! you've got some great tips!I too want to get in shape and eat healthier, but like the rest of the crowd..cant find the time to. How would you "find the time" to incorporate exercise into my daily routine?
I noticed you plan a lot, and I have actually tried to schedule in a specific time to workout, but other things end up taking that time away. How can I prevent this, and how can I get the drive to get it done like I need to?
