Health & Fitness Log Book

Last night was my first class called Learn to Run. Hmm, I bet you thought to run you just go a little faster than a walk...well you are right on one hand, but I wanted to learn as much as I can about running injury free and get some extra tips on form. The class included walkers too.

Our teacher, Connie, made a suggestion to keep a fitness journal. I am good to start something like that but not good at keeping up with it. I found a little notebook today and will cut out the paper she gave us and tape it to the pages. Her version is simple, short and to the point and that is what I need.
If you are interested in making something similar her version includes:
Day
Date
Sleep (how many hours the previous night)
3 little boxes for activity. there is room for a couple of small notes. C=cardio S=strength F=flexibility
Body notes: (are you sore? knee ache? feeling great?)
Misc.
Supplements
Fluids

I did a google search for free fitness page and there are many you can choose from or make your own.
I am going to try it, at least for this summer and see if I find it helpful in any way.
Check this out:

I'm interested in your thoughts about this.

  1. The log seems like a good idea. I went to the link and read the reasons. I will try and start a log and see what happens. I am good at starting things.... not always good at keeping up with them. :)

  2. I very much like the idea of a fitness diary- but then I am a journal junkie. This week I am feeling so tired and I can't figure out why. If I was traking my fitness, I might have a clue - maybe?

  3. Hi Lori- I first found your quilting blog and then clicked on your fitness one. Loved seeing the 3 Sisters, so knew you were a fellow Oregonian!
Due to health conditions I cannot run, but I do have a journal I use for health. I took a little notebook and developed a sticker to put on each page to track my health care needs. It works fantastic. The blank stickers come in all sizes and the templates are available online. You can create check off boxes and change font and colors. They are much easier to use than tape. Just a thought!
