Garden Bust

I've decided that this is the last year I am planting my garden. Thankfully in the past couple of years we have had an increase of locally grown organic food that is fairly easy to access.
I've had a bounty of green beans, but it got too hot too soon for my lettuce, my green pepper has ONE pepper and my jalapeno has ONE pepper. I may get zucchini, but it is very slow so I'm not even sure about that. My tomatoes seem to be at a stand still. It's disappointing, but I am thinking about changing it to a flowers for cutting since it is all fenced in and protected for the deer.
And I love flowers!

How does your garden grow?

  1. Sorry about your garden just never know what the weather will bring. Our garden has been great this year.....I always over plant and we have had an over abundance. We've had some really hot and humid days and then it will cool off and it shows in the green beans are done as well as squash, zucchini and cukes. But I am overloaded with tomatoes, peppers (4 varieties) and eggplant. And I don't know what possessed me to plant 3 cherry tomato plants and 6 regular!!

  2. Oh don t give up on your veggies! What could be yummier than your own homegrown food. Maybe do mostly a cuting garden and just mix in a few special vegs? Maybe this was a poor year and next year you ll have a bounty. Also: water deeply, early in the day; fertilize; make and add compost.

Here s a cool idea for all those green beans:

PS I don t have a yard, just sand and dunes etc, so I have my tubs of flowers on the deck instead. My flowers are doing well. My lilies were amazing despite the cold winter.

  3. My idea of a garden is a trip to farmers market. I can get whatever I want and don't have to pull any weeds!
